We are very glad to inform our members in Germany and in the rest of the world that the Frankfurt Buddhist Academy has officially been declared open on 22nd October, 2022.

On this auspicious occasion international Buddhist leaders, representatives of diplomatic missions and devotees attended. The plaque and the shrine- room statues of the Academy were unveiled by the founders of the Academy and international Buddhist leaders, while Buddhist blessings (Jayamangala Gatha) were diffused on air. Emeritus Prof. and Rector of the Academy, Ven. Bhikkhu Pasadika, warmly welcomed all delegations on behalf of the organizing committee. The Ven. Dr. Tampalawela Dhammaratana, President of the Frankfurt Buddhist Academy and former Consultant to UNESCO, chaired the first meeting with the participation of a great number of audience. Her Excellency Prof. Ksanika Hirimburegama, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, delivered the keynote speech on “Buddhist Education Leads to Sustainable Development of World Peace”.  Emeritus Prof. and visiting scholar of Cambridge University, Ven. Deegalle Mahinda, delivered the guest speech on “Buddhist Ethics and Global Citizenship”.  Many greeting messages from prominent Buddhist leaders in the world, from Sri Lanka, China, India, Japan, Singapore and Sweden, were received and read out during the session. All distinguished participants, including diplomatic missions, enthusiastically promised to support the newly born Frankfurt Buddhist Academy in the hope of its brilliant future.

We are happy to inform you that online teaching classes will begin on 10th January 2023; from now on Academy membership applications can be demanded, and all detailed teaching programs as well as the international teaching staff will be announced soon.
