Martial Arts were also initiated by the great Indian master Bodhidharma on the hilltop of Yong Shan, in China, where later the Shaolin temple was built by order of the Chinese Emperor.  The practice of martial arts is a kind of physical exercise which directly links up with meditation or mind discipline and which generates mental and physical power to successfully face any challenger or enemy. However, this tradition of practice completely refuses all kinds of violence and encourages learning in order to protect oneself and to help others.
