ProgramIntroduction to Theravāda Buddhism: History, Teachings and Practices (coming soon)
Theravāda Buddhism has been recognized as enshrining the original teachings of Buddhism. From India, the original land of Buddhism, it was introduced to ancient Taṃbapaṇṇi or modern Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BCE by Arhant Mahā Mahinda, the son of Emperor Asoka. After royal recognition of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, it was introduced to Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos. In the countries where the Theravāda tradition of Buddhist practices is preserved authentic disciplinary rules and regulations are observed, including the cultivation of meditation. There are many historical, cultural and monastic teachings to be studied so as to deepen one’s knowledge of Buddhism.
The starting date of this course will be announced soon.
